Australia, November of 1997:

"Being in Australia for the first time, one is under great impression from local flora and fauna. It is amazing, how local plants adapted to the fires, which occur very often. The seeds of some plants are covered with such a thick shell, that it is impossible to crush it even with an enormous hammer. Falling down to the ground , such a nut is not able to sprout, unless a fire occurs. High temperature will crack the shell, and in 2-3 months there appear new sprouts on the burnt ground."
